Why the “Equality Act” is nothing of the sort

Democrats are considering legislation today on the House floor called the Equality Act. Despite its name, the bill does the exact opposite of promoting equality.

In fact, it would defeat the purpose of Title IX of the Civil Rights Act, which exists to guarantee women equal educational and athletic opportunities. Like Joe Biden’s executive order that threatens to withhold federal funding for schools unless they force women to compete with biological males, this legislation would permanently devastate girls’ and women’s sports.

Cases already exist in which transgender individuals have sued Catholic hospitals for declining to perform hysterectomies on otherwise healthy women. Under this bill, doctors would also be forced to treat patients according to ideology despite their best medical judgment.

In Ohio, a judge stripped parents of custody of their 17-year-old child for refusing to let the minor undergo hormone treatments. This bill would nationalize this legal standard, jeopardize your rights as a parent and taking life-altering medical decisions for your children out of your hands and putting the government in charge.

According to an Orthodox Jewish rabbi and an agnostic feminist leader, “the Equality Act has been advertised as a fight against bigotry. In truth, it’s a fight against freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution—and observations so common as to be shared by both radical feminism and traditional religion.”

This deeply troubling legislation enjoys the vocal support of Kansas Third District Congresswoman Sharice Davids, showing yet another reason why she’s drastically out of step with the people of Kansas.
